Admins can create, edit, duplicate, and delete goals from the Goals page of the account menu.

Who can see goals?

All Parse.ly account users can see goals set up for the sites they have access to.

Where can I see goals?

The main Goals page is accessible from the optimization menu in the navigation bar. Up to three active goals can also be added to the Overview tab of the Parse.ly Dashboard using the Customize Overview panel.

How many goals can be created?

Each Parse.ly account can create up to 10 active goals.

Can I set up goals that only I can see?

No, goals are on a site level, so any user with access to the site in the Dashboard can see them.

Can I set up goals for multiple sites?

No, goals can only be set up for one site at a time.

Can I view past goals?

You can view previous goals by selecting the Past tab on the goals page. On that tab, you will see all historical goals that completed and were not deleted by an admin.

Which metrics and filters are unavailable when creating goals?

These metrics and filters are not currently supported when creating goals:

VisitorsVideos
Converting visitorsSegments
Average timeChannels
Publish date

What happens when a goal is deleted?

Once an active goal is deleted, it cannot be retrieved. If a past goal is deleted, any historical data on that goal cannot be retrieved either.

Make sure you are comfortable losing all information from a goal before deleting.

What do the “Ahead,” “On track,” and “Behind” badges mean on the Goals page?

These badges show your progress toward a goal based on your pace for the current time period.

Parse.ly calculates your expected pace by dividing the goal amount by the number of days in the period. The badge reflects whether you’re on track to meet your goal by the end of the period:

  • Ahead: Your current pace is more than 110% of the expected pace
  • On track: Your current pace is between 90% and 110% of the expected pace
  • Behind: Your current pace is less than 90% of the expected pace
  • Complete: You’ve already met or exceeded your goal

For example, if you set a monthly goal of 30,000 page views, Parse.ly expects about 1,000 page views per day. If you’re averaging 1,200 page views per day, you’d see the “Ahead” badge.

Note

The “Ahead,” “On track,” and “Behind” badges do not appear on engaged-time goals.
