# Sorting by conversion rate

Posts with a high number of [page views](https://docs.parse.ly/measuring-reporting-performance/calculations/page-views/)
are likely to achieve the highest count of [conversions](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/conversions-tab/).
But what about lower traffic posts that are converting at a higher rate? Sorting
a list in the [Parse.ly Dashboard](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/) by conversion
rate helps identify those high-value pages.

Sorting by conversion rate is available in certain tabs: [Overview](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/overview-tab/),
[Posts/Pages](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/posts-tab/), [Authors](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/authors-tab/),
[Sections](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/sections-tab/), and [Tags](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/tags-tab/).
This feature is not currently available for [Dashboard groups](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/navigating/groups/)
or [reports](https://docs.parse.ly/measuring-reporting-performance/reports-guide/).

## Applying a conversion rate to a list

To apply a conversion rate to a list:

Conversions sort options.

 1. Click the “Sort by” drop-down menu to open sorting options.
 2. Select the drop-down next to “Conversions” to open a secondary panel with conversion
    sorting options.
 3. Choose “Rate” (parts per hundred) or “Rate per mille” (parts per thousand).
 4. Metric: “[Page Views](https://docs.parse.ly/measuring-reporting-performance/calculations/page-views/)”
    or “[Visitors](https://docs.parse.ly/measuring-reporting-performance/calculations/visitors/)”—
which metric should the conversion rate be based on?
 5. Attribution: Conversion rate sorting can be applied using the [Last Touch](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/conversions-tab/attribution/#last-touch)
    or [Last Post Touched](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/conversions-tab/attribution/#last-post-touched)
    attributions.
 6. Conversion Type: Which [conversion type](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/conversions-tab/#h-type)
should be considered when calculating the conversion rate?
 7. Conversion Label: Which [conversion label](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/conversions-tab/#h-label)
should be used when calculating the conversion rate?
 8. Click “Apply” to save settings and sort the list by the selected conversion rate.

## How are conversion rates calculated?

Parse.ly offers four conversion rates using the options in the conversion sorting
menu:

 * (Conversions / page views) * 100 = Percentage rate (%) of conversions per page
   view.
 * (Conversions / page views) * 1,000 = Per mille rate (‰) of conversions per page
   view.
 * (Conversions / visitor) * 100 = Percentage rate (%) of conversions per visitor.
 * (Conversions / visitor) * 1,000 = Per mille rate (‰) of conversions per visitor.
