#  Authors page

The Authors page, found in the [content menu](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/content-menu/)
of the [navigation bar](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/navigating/navigation-bar/),
is one of the most powerful parts of the [Parse.ly Dashboard](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/).
Data on all content creators can be seen in one place, and there’s easy access to
[author details pages](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/authors-tab/author-details/)
to go deeper with data specific to individual creators.

Authors lists every creator who has had readers visit their content for the selected
date or date range. Users can also create and view [author groups](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/navigating/groups/),
custom groupings that allow unlimited ways to segment content performance.

## Author names

Author names are collected from content [metadata](https://docs.parse.ly/metadata/)
and are stored exactly as shared. Values such as “Jane Doe” and “Jane B. Doe” create
two separate author entries in the Dashboard. [Author groups](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/navigating/groups/)
can address multiple name issues — for example, two author names that should be 
attributed to a single creator can be put into an author group to consolidate data
there. If “Staff” is seen as the author or an incorrect author name is listed in
the Dashboard, there are [options to update](https://docs.parse.ly/dashboard/authors-tab/author-staff-incorrect/)
that in the metadata.
